To learn more about our team, feel free to explore around our website and social media links.

For more about FIRST Robotics in general, visit https://www.firstinspires.org/

Can I make an additional donation to the team?

Yes. Explorer Post 6201 is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. If you have any questions or need a tax receipt for your additional donation, please contact us.

Should I remove all accessories? (Bags, batteries, chute plugs, etc.)

Yes, please remove all accessories from the mower before pickup or drop-off. This includes batteries for electric mowers. We cannot be responsible for accessories left with the mower.

What do I need to do to my lawn mower before using it in the spring?

Nothing!  Your lawn mower is ready to mow again as soon as you need it.

I need to use my mower more this year, is that OK?

Yes – if you need to add more gasoline, adding fuel stabilizer will help it run the best next spring.

Do you service riding mowers or lawn tractors?

No, we only do push lawnmowers (includes “self-propelled” push mowers). Riding mowers are too large for our students to process safely. We can sharpen the blades for $5 each though.

Do you service snowblowers, reel mowers, edgers, leaf blowers, etc?

No, we only service push lawnmowers.

Do you service autonomous/robotic mowers?

No, despite being a robotics team, we do not have enough experience with autonomous mowers to safely service them.

Can I drop my mower off myself?

Yes, this year we are re-introducing drop-offs (for pre-registered customers) at Southview on Saturday November 14. Pick ups will be the next day, Sunday November 15. As part of the signup process you can pick the drop-off and pick up times that work best for you. Please pre-register so we know to expect you. Southview’s address is 7225 W. Sylvania Ave, Sylvania OH

Can I send in extra blades for sharpening?

Yes, we can sharpen spare blades for $5 each.

Can I send in a replacement blade for installation?

Yes.

My mower needs a new… spark plug, wheel, etc.  Can you provide this service?

No not at this time.

My lawn mower does not work.  Can I still get it serviced?

Yes, but only if specifically requested by the owner.  In this case, we cannot take responsibility for the lawn mower’s functionality. If you know your mower does not work, please let us know when you register.

I have an old lawn mower that I do not need.  Can I donate it to the team?

No, we cannot accept it.

What is the deadline for requesting a pickup?

We will only be accepting the first 150 mowers due to space and personnel limitations. Please fill out the registration form by November 1st as we need this information for scheduling and logistics.

I requested a pickup.  When will you be coming?

We will contact you to confirm your pickup, we will be there on Friday November 13, between approximately 4:00 and 9:30 PM.  Please be patient if we have not come yet.  Our students and volunteers are working hard to get to all the houses in an efficient manner.

Can I request a specific time for my pickup?

Due to logistics, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate a specific pickup time.  However, we can pick up your mower even if you are not at home.

I requested a pickup but no one contacted me.  What should I do?

We will contact to confirm your pickup by the evening of Tuesday, November 10.  If no one has called you by this time, please use our Contact Us Form

When will you return my lawn mower?

We will deliver lawn mowers on Sunday, November 15, late morning or early afternoon.

What if I will not be home when you come to pick up or deliver my lawn mower?

Please leave the lawn mower in a location, such as behind the house or next to the garage, where we can find it.  Please detach all of the mower accessories like bags from the mower. For electric please remove the batteries.

If you did not prepay online, please attach an envelope with cash or check to the lawn mower payable to “Explorer Post 6201”.  We will leave a receipt with your mower number(s).  If you are not at home when we return your mower, we will leave it in a similar location.

I live outside of the Sylvania School District, can you pick up my mower?

Due to logistics we can only pick up mowers within the the Sylvania School District, shown below.

What is “Zeffy” and why are you using it?

Zeffy is a platform that makes it easier for nonprofits (like us) to provide online payment options for events like Lawnmower. Their business model is to add an optional percentage to your purchase price, which can be lowered or removed entirely without penalty if you need to save a few bucks. It serves over 100k organizations in the U.S. and has worked well for our team.

The benefit for us is there is no fee charged to the team, so your $100 donation really means $100 that we can buy robot parts with!

Can you walk me through your new Checkout Process?

Written out, this looks more complicated than it actually is in practice. But if you have questions hopefully this helps!

For “Mower Service”: click whether you want Gas or Electric Mower service, then select the Quantity (1 for each mower). Enter your mower Description(s), then click “Add to Cart”.

For “Air Filter Replacement”: pick what style you want (see this Filters Offered page for more detail), select the Quantity (typically 1 if you’re replacing the filter on 1 mower), then click “Add to Cart”.

For “Sharpening of Extra Blades”: select the Quantity, then click “Add to Cart”. Note that this is for EXTRA blades, the ones on your mower already are included in the general Mower Service.

Next you will select whether the Team is picking up your mower at home, or you’re dropping it off at the school.

For “Home Pickup and Delivery”: you must have an address within the Sylvania School District. Select Quantity (1 per mower, so 2 if you have 2 mowers being serviced), then click “Add to Cart”.

For “Self Drop off and Pick Up at Southview”: Select Quantity (1 per mower). Then you select your Drop-off time slot and Pick up time slot (this allows us to better prepare for when customers will be arriving). Lastly click “Add to Cart”.

The last box on this first page is for optional donations to the team. It’s not required, but we really do appreciate it!! <3

The next page starts by asking for your phone number (so we can contact you).

Below that is a blank box for any notes or messages you need to add regarding your mower (for example if you know the mower does not run, please let us know!)

The “Pick-Up Address” is for Southview High School. This is displayed regardless of whether you picked Home Pickup or Self Dropoff. 10/15/26: This has since been removed to eliminate confusion. Your home address is captured during the checkout process.

“Summary” shows your selected services and the total cost. Below the items is the Zeffy optional percentage, which you can set to “other” and pick any amount (including $0) that you want.

Payment Methods: You can pay by Card, Bank account, or Check (select Check for Cash payment).

Checks made out to: EXPLORER POST 6201
For cash payments, please provide exact change if possible. Drivers will not be carrying change.
For pickup orders, cash or check can be securely attached to your mower (inside a bagged envelope taped around the handle for example) or handed directly to the volunteers.
For drop-offs at Southview, we will have a designated table for payments.

Finally you enter your information: Email, Name, and Address. Please double and triple check this.

Last step, click “Buy”!

In a few minutes you should receive an email confirming your purchase. If you don’t see it, please check your Spam folder. If you are still unsure if a purchase went through after some time has passed, please reach out to us for confirmation.
