Lawnmower FAQ’s (Pick Up Sylvania School District Only)

What exactly is “Annual Care”?

Lawn mower service includes:

  • Clean the under decking
  • Blade Sharpen
  • Oil Change (Gasoline Mowers only)
  • Power Wash and Dry (Gasoline Mowers only)
  • Hand Clean and Dry (Electric Mowers only)
  • Stabilize gas (Gasoline Mowers only)
  • We carry three of the most popular air filters ($15 additional, Gasoline Mowers only)
    • Other filters will be at cost if we can find them
    • You are welcome to attach your own filter to the mower

How much does it cost?

  • Gasoline Push Mower: $60
  • Electric Push Mowers: $55

Please make checks payable to Explorer Post 6201. 

We take cash and checks. 

Please have payment prepared when mower is picked up.

Where do the proceeds go?

The funds will help The Cat Attack Robotics Team build a robot and travel to competitions as part of the FIRST Robotics Competition.  For a closer look at our activities, feel free to explore our website, www.thecatattack.org

Can I make an additional donation to the team?

Yes.  Explorer Post 6201 is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

What do I need to do to my lawn mower before using it in the spring?

Nothing!  Your lawn mower is ready to mow again as soon as you need it.

I need to use my mower more this year is that OK?

Yes that is fine

Do you do riding mowers or lawn tractors?

No, we only do push lawn mowers.

Do you service snow thrower, reel mower, edger, leaf blower?

No, we only do push lawn mowers.

Can I send in extra blades for sharpening?

We will sharpen extra blades for $5 each.

My mower needs a new… blade, filter, spark plug, etc.  Can you provide this service?

No not at this time.

My lawn mower does not work.  Can I still get it winterized?

We will not service any lawn mower that does not start, unless specifically requested by the owner.  In that case, we cannot take responsibility for the lawn mower’s functionality.

I have an old lawn mower that I do not need.  Can I donate it to the team?

No, we cannot accept it.

What is the deadline for requesting a pickup?

Please fill out the pickup form by Monday, November 4th.  We need this information for scheduling and logistics. But once we get 100 mowers we will not be scheduling further.

I requested a pickup.  When will you be coming?

We will contact you to confirm your pickup, we will be there on Friday, November 15, between 4:00 and 9:30 PM.  Please be patient if we have not come yet.  Our students and volunteers are working hard to get to all the houses in an efficient manner.

Can I request a specific time for my pickup?

Due to logistics, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate a specific pickup time.  However, we can pick up your mower even if you are not at home.

I requested a pickup but no one contacted me.  What should I do?

We will contact to confirm your pickup by the evening of Tuesday, November 12.  If no one has called you by this time, please call or email to let us know by calling us at 419-887-3490 and leaving a message.

When will you return my lawn mower?

We will deliver lawn mowers on Sunday, November 17, late morning or early afternoon. 

What if I will not be home when you come to pick up or deliver my lawn mower?

Please leave the lawn mower in a location, such as behind the house or next to the garage, where we can find it.  Please detach all of the mower accessories like bags from the mower. Also, for electric please remove the battery. Attach a check to the lawn mower, payable to Explorer Post 6201, for $60 (Gasoline), $75 (Gasoline with filter) or $55 (Electric).  We will leave a receipt with your mower number(s).  If you are not at home when we return your mower, we will leave it in a similar location.
